100 Sketches by Omar Mohammad of 100 Buildings by Thom Mayne is an architectural drawing project that was inspired by the book 100 Buildings. Produced by The Now Institute with a foreword by Thom Mayne,
100 Buildings is a catalogue of the most important buildings of the 20th century. This list was compiled by asking renowned architects and firms to choose buildings from the 20th century they thought every student
of architecture should know. The top 100 were selected based on the frequency of which they were stated.
A designer and aspiring architect, I wanted to study these buildings past their written history, images, and descriptions. I sketched
all 100 buildings, studying their forms and plans as I went. An hour to thirty minutes were spent on each sketch, while another hour to thirty minutes were spent doing online research to learn more about the building than the book allowed.
This website acts as an archive to this work, and as an extension of the physical book for those that are interested. The rotating globe on the homepage denotes the physical location of each building by pulsing dots. I hope this allows the reader to place
themselves physically in respect to these incredible works. 100 Sketches by Omar Mohammad of 100 Buildings by Thom Mayne
